Your daily SPF 30, sized for your bag.
Your sunscreen wears off through the day, at your desk as much as outside, and reapplying is easier when your SPF fits in a pocket, carry on or gym bag.
This is Extreme Protect SPF 30 in a travel size: broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection from zinc oxide and octinoxate, in the same lightweight, hydrating lotion. Vitamin E sits near the top of its ingredient list, joined by olive leaf, centella and aloe for antioxidant support, plus iS Clinical's Extremozyme technology.
Who It Is For
Anyone who wants their daily sunscreen on hand for reapplying, at work, on the go or traveling.
Acne Safe
What You Will See, and When
Apply 15 minutes before sun exposure. Used as directed with other sun protection measures, broad spectrum sunscreen decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun.
How to Use
Every morning as the last step of your routine, whatever the season, the weather or your plans. Squeeze out two finger lengths and smooth it evenly over face and neck. Reapply at least every two hours and each time you wash your hands, indoors and by a window too, because the film wears off; this size is the one for your bag.
The Science
Zinc oxide scatters and absorbs ultraviolet light across UVB and deep into UVA. Octinoxate absorbs UVB, the range most responsible for sunburn, which lets the formula reach SPF 30 in a lightweight lotion.
Daily use matters more than any single application. In a four and a half year randomized trial of 903 adults, people who applied broad spectrum sunscreen every day showed no detectable increase in skin aging, and their skin aged 24% less than people who used sunscreen only when they felt like it.
Vitamin E and the triterpenes of centella asiatica (asiaticoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid) add antioxidant support.
Questions
Where does it go in my routine?Last, every morning, after your moisturizer. Wear it every day, rain or shine, even if you are staying in.
Is it tinted? No. It goes on clear. If you like a tint, put your tinted sunscreen on over it.
How often should I reapply? At least every two hours and each time you wash your hands. The film wears off through the day, indoors too, which is exactly what this size is for.
Does it contain titanium dioxide? No. Its filters are zinc oxide and octinoxate.
Why a Routine Made for You Works Better
General advice is written for everyone, so it has to assume nothing about you. It can tell you what is safe. It cannot tell you what will work for your skin.
Skin changes when it is challenged just enough, then given time to recover and adapt. That amount is different for every person, and it moves as your skin gets stronger. Ask too much and your skin spends its energy recovering instead of improving. Ask too little and nothing changes. Finding that point for you, and moving it at the right time, is where results come from.
Where that point sits depends on:
-
Your skin: its history, how it reacts, and what it is doing today
-
Your health: hormones, medications, pregnancy and any condition that changes how skin behaves
-
Your lifestyle: sleep, stress, diet, sun, exercise and climate
-
Your routine: what you use now, and what has and has not worked before
-
Your goals: what you most want to change
-
Your expectations and timeline: how soon you want to see change, and what is realistic for your skin
-
Your consistency: how much time and how many steps you will keep up with, because the best routine is the one you actually do
-
Your treatments: what you have had and what you have planned
A skin therapist weighs all of this, builds a routine you can keep, and adjusts it as your skin responds. That is why we guarantee our products when they are part of a routine designed by one of our skin therapists. If you have been reading general advice, bring your questions. We will help you sort out what applies to you and what does not.
